The Need for Meditation: Identifying the Root Cause of Lack of Constant Happiness and Peace of Mind

Over the past decades, distress and sorrow in human life has been on the rise.  Happiness levels of individuals across the world has declined. Vices have penetrated the society, work environments, politics, religions, family, and the self. Vices have become the norm and justified behavior. Suffering is being experienced by means of –

  1. body – physical illness
  2. mind – mental or emotional pain
  3. population – upheaval in relationships, social aspects
  4. monetary – financial problems

Stable peace of mind and experience of constant happiness has become impractical. We often identify external factors such as other people’s attitude or immoral actions, the environment, the five elements of nature, and destiny as the cause of one’s suffering. However, the root cause of all suffering in mankind is contributed to three factors that are often overlooked or perhaps not deeply realized:

  1. karma – whatever we do, think, or speak will come back to us with the same energy i.e. what one experiences in the present is what one has expressed in the past. This is the universal law of cause and effect. This Law of Karma is the silent thread of justice running through all of life for every human being.
  2. vices – our thoughts, words, actions, and beliefs of what is considered to be right and wrong is heavily influenced by vices of ego, greed, anger, attachment, lust. Vices are prevalent in society and have an extremely deceiving presence in each individual’s mind.
  3. body consciousness – a term that refers to mistaken identity of the true self with one’s body, bodily relations, material possessions, professional status, and role in society. We are beings of energy, we are not bodies. Lack of realization of one’s true self arises from chronic identification of oneself with one’s body, family, profession, wealth, social life and problematic situations – all of which share two common aspects i.e. these are temporary and are constantly changing. Constant connection of the mind (i.e. thoughts centered around) with the time limited existence of and constantly changing aspect of the aforementioned factors leads to a fluctuating state of mind. Identification with anything that is temporary in existence and constantly changing leads to lack of stability, insecurity, fear, discomfort, being in the bondage of limited existence, a multitude of emotions experienced from the negative energy spectrum, mental disturbances and eventually sorrow.

With an in-depth understanding of the above mentioned factors, one is able to comprehend that having a stable state is not dependent on external factors but on inner spiritual strength, self realization and relationship with The Supreme (Higher Power).

Experiencing happiness, peace or sorrow is a choice made by every individual at every second based on the quality of thoughts generated by the mind at every second. The force of negative thought patterns that are triggered by external situations must be resisted and can only be resisted by spiritual strength arising from connection with the True Self and The Supreme. Otherwise, these habitual thought patterns from the negative energy spectrum consume our happiness, peace of mind, integrity, morality and create a vicious circle of negative energy that turns us into victims of sorrow – a circle that one must break out of by self realization. Directing one’s thoughts to one’s True Identity is the key to experiencing continual happiness and peace of mind. Self Realization means experiencing our True Identity, which is that –

  1. we are Beings of Peaceful Energy, we have a Light form, we are Pure, Happy, Blissful, Loveful, Powerful Beings of Energy
  2. we belong to The Supreme Soul and we are bodiless
  3. we come from a Stable and Silent World of Golden Red Light called the Soul World, that exists beyond the Cosmos of 5 elements of nature
  4. our existence is limitless in time, we are immortal beings, beings of energy in a human bodily costume

When one connects with their True Identity of spiritual being or soul, which is a luminous, sentient point of energy (as shown in the picture below) then one experiences the energy that the True Self emanates, one experiences the deep silence of the Soul World, and also experiences The Supreme as an Ocean of virtues and qualities of peace, love, happiness, power, bliss, purity. That is when one achieves true liberation from sorrow in life.

meditation
Every Being of Energy in the Physical Body has originally descended from the Soul World that exists beyond the Physical dimensions

Through Meditation we direct the mind to, or simply said …. constantly thinking about:

  1. the True Self,
  2. the Eternal Home of all Souls, and
  3. the Eternal Relation with The Supreme

This is the technique to restore the long desired stability, prolonged happiness and peace in life. Tuning the mind to think less quantity of thoughts, and the right quality of thoughts, accumulates the energy of silence which empowers the soul to resist and break out of the vicious force of negative thought patterns that are triggered by external situations. Meditation is the necessary daily nourishment for the soul. The soul has been long starved of this energy of silence.

Every morning, as soon as we wake up…let us start the day with few minutes of meditation i.e. sitting in silence and thinking these thoughts that we are peaceful energy, we have descended from the Soul World into this body to play a role in this world, but we eternally belong to the Supreme Parent. Every night, before going to bed, let us repeat these thoughts and experience our true self.
